Some funerals are better than others! I saw this through the experience of my dear father’s dismal funeral service and cremation near a big London hospital. It contrasted vividly with my mother’s personal, uplifting and family farewell in a village church 20 years later. The experience for our family was starkly different – the one sitting dejectedly in a silent and disappointed row unable to comment (to this day!), the other warm, energetic and proud. The recognition that some funerals are better than others was shocking – and also inspiring – and it sowed the seed for Family Tree Funeral Company, founded in 2005, in Stroud, Gloucestershire.
